Bygget kobler den \u00f8vre og nedre veien med heis, trapp og en sti som slynger seg gjennom kulturlandskapet. Byggets form henter sin inspirasjon fra fjellene som reiser seg rundt J\u00f8lstervatnet, med taket som f\u00f8lger landskapets linjer, og undersiden gjenspeiler fjellenes speilbilde i vannet. Den m\u00f8rke trekledningen gir bygget et dempet uttrykk som glir naturlig inn i omgivelsene. For \u00e5 minimere inngrep i terrenget er bygget l\u00f8ftet, slik at kun kommunikasjonskjernen og gavlene m\u00f8ter bakken. Hovedetasjen rommer utstilling og caf\u00e9, med langsg\u00e5ende fasade og utsikt mot landskapet. Skodder i fasaden danner \u00abmotiver\u00bb som gjenspeiler Astrups kunstneriske uttrykk. Uterommene er utformet med respekt for landskapet og fremhever samspillet mellom bruk og bevaring. Hagen og vandringen st\u00e5r sentralt, med fokus p\u00e5 dyrking av spiselige vekster, ville planter og bevaring av truede arter.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\"
